They grow (who knew) and Jonah's first day of school

We are aware that as children grow, they change in appearance. Jonah has been "practicing" what he'll look like later in life for a long time now, so it should come as no great surprise to us that our newest beautiful little child, Rima, is changing too. But the newborn phase changes are so rapid that it is breathtaking. She had her 2-week follow-up visit to the doctor, and everything looks perfect. She has gained a 1/2 inch and is now 6 lbs. 12oz., which is a nice gain for a weeks worth of work. Jonah also got to go to meet the doctor, which went well. Speaking of Jonah, he has also seemingly changed overnight; he is getting to be a little boy now.

Our big news of the week: Jonah started preschool on Monday. Today is his third day there, and so far so good. He didn't get enough rest on his second day so he came home a bit early, but based on the hugs and kisses from the other kids on his way out, I would say the integration seems to be going fine. When we dropped him off on the first day we didn't really know what the protocol was - Do we stay for a while? Do we say, "Goodbye, have a good day, and tell Ms. Marsha when you need to go to the potty?" We quickly asked his teacher, and she quietly said, "mmm...go now." So that is the ritual - very simple drop off without any long, drawn out battles on getting him engaged in the day's activities. I've also started waging the battles before we get in the car of not bringing cars and lambs to school - much easier to deal with that sort of thing at home rather than in the parking lot. The school and the guides are excellent, and the parents we are starting to meet all seem friendly. The school's materials are top notch, and everything feels clean but not overly sterile; the sense you get when you walk in is it is a safe, soft place, which feels right to both of us.
